The "Cosuming" pages.

Here's the gauntlets going together. I had to first make a pattern (it took me several tries to get the shape right). The pieces get sewn inside out. Simply turn it right side out after all the seams are sewn. This was one of the early attempts.

The collar was equally challenging ... I cut out black (imitation) leather and got sewing. I applied the correct appearing size gloss black tubing to the edges using superglue gell and a "buttoneer" stapler.

I needed a 'Klingon Glyph' for dressing up the gauntlets. I didn't want to use the original Paramount used Klingon glyphs, so I came up with my own.

Above right: the gauntlet 'glyphs' being made. They are the Klingon letters for {Ma'k}, my adopted Klingon name. I cut the letters individually out of sheet styrene, and then cut out a larger pattern to use as a backing. I used apoxy to lay the individual letters onto the larger backing and painted the glyphs after the glue dried. Bronze, brass, and gold are the colors. I first used large round 'nailhead' pin clasp backings as attatching hardware. But ... I later glued the letters directly to the gauntlet permanently. I also did up a tall wine glass into a different goblet handle with the "Ma'k" glyph etched and then painted on the glass.

NOTE : This is my PERSONAL glyph . . .

I am requesting that you DO NOT copy mine.

. . . invent your own, PLEASE!

These are the gauntlets used by "Koval" in the three part internet movie: "Of Gods and Men"...

Yes, J.G.Hertzler himself wore these!

I also made my own belt utility box, as seen on "Star Trek III".

Left: Steps 1 ~ 4, middle: sewing the thing, right: finished box 1 of 4 made.

Here's MY pattern for the box (not necissarilly the actual screen used size):

NOTES: Use heavy black cowhide, creasing the folds before sewing it together.

The inner flaps are sewn through the outer layer to hold it square.

I used black metal snaps to keep the flap closed.

Now on to the next part - making the holsters...
