Part 7:
WEARING -and- REMOVING YOUR BUMPYHEAD
DO NOT allow
the Spirit Gum, or the Alcohol, or Spirit Gum remover...to come in direct
contact with your eyes. ( ...OUCH!!!... IT BURRRRNNNSS!!!) The results could be devastating and permanent!
Always test the chemicals to be used on a forearm to see if you will indeed have a allergic reaction.
Obviously...
Do not proceed if you do.
When gluing down parts of your appliance, always "mop" the skin off where the glue will be with rubbing alcohol (unless you have allergies ~ then use hot water and dish soap) and wipe all the residue off. This removes any oils in the skin surface, which might cause the 'glue' to not work.
Then apply the spirit gum to both contact surfaces: the inner surface in the face of the piece to be glued down where it touches the skin, and the other surface where the appliance surface touches your skin. Simply 'paint' on a coating of spirit gum on each surface, Then let it get 'tacky' while holding the two surfaces away from each other.

Here's my favorite brand of "Glue" (Spirit Gum) : Ben Nye
Once both surfaces are thouroughly dry, and remain tacky, CAREFULLY press the two surfaces together. If alignment is critical, you might do this in sections.
Makeup Suggestions:
Keep it simple. There are many choices for coverage, or lack thereof. I have purchased most of my makeup supplies from a professional costuming store.

Here's my personal makeup kit contents laid out.
If you really want to be "real", you can carefully 'paint' latex into the edges, making them on smooth surface with the surrounding skin. Then all you have to do is apply a cream colored makeup over the joint of the appliance and your face to even out the tones.
Experiment with this. You can do so many different things, it's not easy to nail down just one method that works for everyone.
REMOVING YOUR BUMPYHEAD
Removing the appliance:
To get them apart, just drop a couple drips of Sprirt Gum Remover in the 'uphill' side of the joint, and start wiggling it. It will eventually ease off from the sprirt gum being softened by the remover. You can also use a cotton swab to 'push' the spirit gum remover under nonglued surfaces to where it can get to glued parts.
I do NOT
recommend simply "peeling" it off. You can rip off layer(s) of skin
doing this. Believe me, I've seen it happen. It aint pretty.
Imagine Klingon #1... "Hah! I don't need no stinking remover!" (ripping noise here) ... "Ummm... Anyone know how to stop bleeding?"
Use the Sprirt Gum Remover. It works wonders.
Once apart, wipe clean the inner surface on the appliance, and the skin where it was glued, with the Spirit Gum Remover.
Use any makeup remover you can stand, to remove any extra colorization you have done. Then wash with a good soap.
You will be all cleaned up and ready to be human again.
When you have your make up technique figured out, and can do it that way each time, You are DONE!! CONGRATULATIONS! You now have a "Bumpy Head" alien head appliance of that particular TV and movie that you love!
